GET WRESTLING STRONG

WHY:               Have you ever been in a wrestling match and your opponent felt much stronger than you and you felt like you could not move him? Or maybe he was so strong that he was moving you around the mat with ease and you felt like there was nothing that you could do with him? Have you ever lost a wrestling match to an opponent who you thought you were a much better wrestler than, but he was so strong that he made your technique and wrestling abilities become ineffective? If you have ever been in any of these situations, join our program to get WRESTLING STRONG.

Private Lessons, Small Group Lessons and Video Analysis

Private Lessons/ Small Groups-by appointment

Private lessons and/or small group lessons provide an opportunity for the wrestler and the coach to concentrate on the specific needs of the individual wrestler. As a compliment to regular practices, private lessons and small group lessons can prove to be very beneficial to the development of the wrestler. The coach will work individually or in small groups with wrestlers on techniques, holds and drills that will prove to help the wrestler become a more successful, total wrestler. The coach will evaluate the wrestler during regular practice times and during competition and determine what the wrestler needs to work on and then implement a plan to guide the wrestler in accomplishing his personal goals. Also, the wrestler and/or parent can ask for personal attention in a certain area where the wrestler may be struggling. For example, if a wrestler struggles getting out from the bottom position, then the wrestler or parent may ask the coach to help in that area. Another example may be if the coach sees in practice or in competition that the wrestler comes out of his stance too easily, the coach may suggest tailoring the lesson to stance and positioning. The second example is not as obvious as the first, but it is just as important and the wrestler/parent may not notice this problem as quickly. Private lessons and small group lessons will always be tailored specifically to the individual/group and the lessons will always focus on developing the total wrestler.

 Video Analysis-by appointment

Video analysis is a very important part of becoming a successful wrestler. This provides an opportunity for the wrestler and the coach to look at video of the wrestler either competing or practicing and correct mistakes, improve positions, view missed opportunities and establish attainable goals for the future. This also holds the wrestler accountable for performance on the mat. Because sometimes the wrestler does not realize the mistakes that he makes, the mistake can go uncorrected. With video analysis, the coach can show the wrestler exactly when he makes a mistake or gets out of position and the wrestler can see it happening. Seeing is believing! It is important that as a wrestler, we understand our mistakes and positions and constantly work on improving. Video analysis can be a very important tool in improvement. The coaching staff will prefer to work on what we do, rather than watching our opponent and what he does.
